Daphne’s Greek Cafe Mo-Sun 11AM-9PM Most plates under $10. Catering available. Overview What makes Daphne’s a place to keep going back to is the fresh healthy sides and ease of ordering. With lots of colorful pictures to look at on the wall and on the menu, you know what you are getting is what you ordered.

The staff has always been really friendly and great about making you feel like you order your own special plate is being made just for you – which of course it is. The clean, classy and bright establishment is humming with authentic Greek Music entertaining your ears in the background.

I first encountered this restaurant chain in Del Mar and was thoroughly excited when they opened one closer to where I live.

They get busy for lunch but a lot of the orders are take-out and I have yet to wait for more than a few minutes for my own order. Parking is free in back. Daphne’s takes cash and credit cards.

My personal favorite: Vegetarian Lunch Under $7 with a drink. This filling lunch combination comes packed with fresh Greek Salad (you put your dressing on) with ripe cherry tomatoes, perfect Kalamata olives and add kick of peppercinie’s, red onions and of course feta cheese.

On the side you get flavorful rice pilaf, warm soft pita, delicious homemade humus, delectable dolmas that seemed to just melt in your mouth and savory warm falafel. Add to that fresh zingy Tzatziki sauce.

Trust me you will have everybody around asking to try a bite. The Side of Meat The Chicken and Gyros and Kabobs are definitely a must have. They come in many combinations for any appetite – such as Pita Sandwich for lunch with French Fires or for a larger appetite The Gyros Plate that includes many of the vegetarian sides.

The chicken breast meat is delicious - grilled perfectly so the meat is still moist. The lamb is mouthwatering and salted just right. You can also order half a chicken or shrimp plates and salads. Basically any carnivore will find his taste buds satisfied. Tips etc. Personally I substitute rice for a second helping of the yummy salad. It’s more filling than you think. For a little escape to the Mediterranean Peninsula I would say that Daphne’s is authentic as a momma and papa shop. With the ease of a chain you know what you are getting and it is always beautiful to look at and scrumptious.
